Yavapai County Fair: Bull Ridin' and Mutton Bustin' Featured

The Yavapai County Fair featured bull ridin’ and mutton bustin' Thursday evening, and a great time was had by all.

Of course, no County Fair would be worth going to without exhibits, animals and carnival rides. And this year’s Fair has all that and more.

Taking place in the Prescott Rodeo Grounds arena, was an opportunity for bullriders as young as 10 years old to demonstrate their skills. Younger children - one as young as 2 years old - participated in mutton bustin’. That’s basically where they climb aboard a sheep and hold on tight - because that critter will run!

The County Fair exhibits open today at 9 AM. Parking is free and today only students get in free. It’s just $6 for adults and $5 for seniors. Saturday and Sunday students can expect to pay $4 admission. Food and carnival rides are not included in the admission fees.

Tonight, expect Ranch Rodeo and Bronc Riding, followed by Harry Luge, Jr. in concert.

Saturday will feature barrel racing and family fun night, and the evening will be topped off by the Mogollon Band.

Sunday is Mounted Shooting, a talent show and the exhibits. Carnival rides continue throughout the entire event.

Worried about rain? Not a problem. Most exhibits and events are under cover, in tents or in buildings where it is nice and dry!
