At approximately 6:30 p.m. on January 19th, Glendale Firefighters were finishing up an EMS call in the area of Ocotillo and 59th Avenue when they spotted a large column of smoke just north of their location. Fire crews arrived to find a residential home well-involved with smoke and flames. Access was very difficult with a fence around the property, chains on the doors and numerous add-ons. Once interior they quickly located a female occupant that was unconscious and unresponsive. Firefighters affected a rescue to the exterior and Fire-Paramedics immediately began life saving efforts. The patient was transported to Maricopa County Burn Center but later died of her injuries. The house interior was difficult to move through due to a high concentration of personal items.

The deceased has been identified as 62 year old Eva Rascone Cedillo. Glendale Fire investigators have ruled the blaze to be accidental however could not determine the exact fire cause due to heavy fire damage and dense living conditions.
